This self-paced online course offers a foundational introduction to Total Worker Health (TWH) concepts and their relevance to worker safety and well-being. The course is designed for workplace safety and health professionals, labor leaders, or anyone working in various industrial settings. The course content addresses topics appropriate for industrial hygienists, environmental safety and health managers, safety specialists, human resources managers, occupational health nurses, and union health and safety stewards.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Describe factors that influence the current state of work, the workforce, and the workplace
- Describe the co-influences of work and non-work factors on worker safety, health, and well-being
- Define work organization and recognize the ways it can influence worker well-being
- Discuss the concepts involved in a TWH approach to worker safety, health, and well-being
- Describe an example of a TWH program, the Healthy Workplace Participatory Program, and the core components
Learning activities include videos, readings, and other assessment and application activities. Participants can start, stop, and resume as desired. Total estimated course time is 2-3 hours.
This course is NOT pre-approved by professional licensing bodies; however, participants who complete all required course activities will receive a certificate of completion that can be used to claim educational credit from professional accrediting boards.
